Autism Alliance of Michigan
Last summer the middle school aged daughters of Paragon employees partnered with the Autism Alliance of Michigan to raise awareness and funding for the fight against Autism. Through the TeamKAL (Team Kids Action Learning) process, the girls experienced what it took to work as a team and develop leadership qualities, resulting in developing a design for apparel that they sold to raise money for this worthy cause.

HAVEN has been a long standing partner of Paragon. One of the ways Paragon has supported and continues to support HAVEN is through the donation of toiletries (with the help of people in the community to include elementary kids), to make up and donate close to 1,000 bath bags to be used by the clients at HAVEN, Oakland County of Michigan’s center for the treatment and prevention of domestic violence and sexual assault.
DTE Urban Gardens
Paragon became actively involved with the DTE Urban Garden project in 2009, while engaging Paragon’s Food Epprentice Experience participants, non-profit sponsors and coaches. Paragon shares DTE Energy’s passion around providing support to our region through community involvement. DTE Energy and Gleaners began the DTE Urban Garden project in 2008 at DTE Energy substations throughout southeast Michigan where more than 5,300 pounds of produce was grown. The DTE Energy/ Gleaners Community Food Bank partnership expanded to six additional sites in 2009, and plans to expand their garden sites in the years to come. Paragon will continue supporting the DTE Urban Garden project by continually bringing new volunteers to the ‘garden’. If you are interested in getting involved, check out Paragon’s “What’s It 2 You” network gatherings or contact DTE Energy directly. www.dteenergy.com

Through Paragon’s various Women in Leadership initiatives, it supports BeadforLife, a non-profit organization whose mission is to create sustainable opportunities for women to lift their families out of extreme poverty. Ugandan women turn colorful recycled paper into beautiful beaded jewelry that they sell for income, food, medicine, school fees and hope. Paragon makes monetary donations as well as helps to spread the word of BeadforLife by routinely purchasing BeadforLife jewelry for Paragon’s women leadership participants.
