By Janice Krupic, President and CEO of Paragon Leadership International
Five months ago, when I developed the vision for My Career Matters, a place where women in the workforce could come and safely share their stories, learn from one another, and lift each other up, I had no idea so many women within all Acts of Career and backgrounds would embrace such a movement. This further demonstrates the need for such a supportive community. Having just finished reading Melinda Gates’ new book The Moment of Lift: How Empowering Women Changes the World (which if you haven’t read, I would highly recommend all women, and men for that matter, read it) it is a reminder of how far we have come as a society toward the empowerment of women, yet knowing how far we have still to go. Reading story after story of Melinda’s personal experiences of working with women around the world, provides an inspiration for all women. As she states, “If you want to lift humanity, empower women. It is the most comprehensive, pervasive, high-leverage investment you can make in human beings.”
Hopefully, Melinda’s messaging can encourage all My Career Matters members to reach out intentionally to other women and find a way to pay it forward. Paragon Leadership International will continue paying it forward by offering all participants for the May 15, “Who Controls the Reins of My Career” learning session, the opportunity to bring a woman who is just entering, or is new to the workforce, as her guest at no cost. Register by clicking here, and if this is of interest to you, please send an email to futureface@paragon-lead.com, letting us know the name and contact information of your guest. The first five women who register for the event and pledge to lift up and bring a new-in-career woman will receive a copy of The Moment of Lift: How Empowering Women Changes the World by Melinda Gates.
In closing, as Melinda so eloquently shares, “When women hear our own voices in another women’s story, our courage grows, and one voice can become a chorus.”
Now is your time to step forward and share your voice . . . and help lift our next generation of women!
